If this is your first visit, welcome! We hope you will find your stay comfortable and rewarding. If you have not yet created an account on this forum, you may only view just a few of the Home pages using the links at left. In order to view any of the forum threads or posts or participate in our live chatbox, you must first create an account. Just click the "Register" link at the top right of the window and follow the on-screen instructions.

If you are considering joining our Fleet, please first take a look at the information under the link at the left "Recruiting Center", which will give you some background info and instructions for how to proceed.

If you are a diplomat from another Fleet, please first take a look at the information under the link at the left "Foreign Relations", which will give you some background info and instructions for how to proceed.

If you are simply visiting as a guest with no intention of joining our Fleet nor acting as a diplomat from another Fleet, we still welcome you. Feel free to nose about this "Home" area, and use the "Register" link at the top-right of this window to create an account and take a look at a few parts of our forum. Until you create a user account, you won't be able to view or post to any forum threads - this helps protect us from scammers and spammers. Registration only takes a minute, and once that's done, head over to the forum area "Visitors Center".

About registration on this forum: While COPPA requires us to ask for your year of birth, we do no other checking for validity other than an email confirmation link that you must click to complete registration. You will not be able to proceed until you receive and respond to the email confirmation, so please type your email address carefully! If you are considering joining our Fleet, or are allies with us, or simply want to explore a friendship with the VKF, please include in your user profile your STO in-game character@handle, so we can know you inside of Star Trek Online. Thanks!

Once you create your account on this forum, you will then be a registered guest, or Tvi-Shal (in Vulcan terms). You will then be able to see more information, namely the forums Visitor's Center, Recruiting Center, and Foreign Relations. However, the majority of the VKF Forum is restricted to Fleet members and Diplomats from Other Fleets. Not trying to be overly secretive, but one of our Fleet goals is to provide valuable game advice for our members - if we gave it away to everyone, what would be the point of having a Fleet?

About our Fleet: The Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet (VKF) is a gamer guild in the online MMORPG "Star Trek Online". Our guild (Fleet in STO terms) is Federation based, although we do have an area for Klingon Defense Force (KDF) to allow our members to experience both sides of STO-Federation and Klingon. We are hoping that Cryptic will expand the playable faction list, to include Romulans, Cardassians, etc. If/as they do, we'll expand our forums to support our members needs.

Our Fleet membership is made up of players using any of the available races in STO. Although we were started by Vulcans, we embrace all who follow the path of logic and intellect in their gameplay. We are dedicated to enriching the in-game experience for our members through the sharing of information on game mechanics, strategy and tactics, career and mission tips and through in-game group organization and play. We are Vulcans and other races (even Borg!) who value logic and analysis, forethought and quick action, bravery and honor. By 2409, we have learned from the Klingons how to battle honorably and from the Earth humans how to use controlled rage to great effect in battle. We continue to evolve and learn from other races and try to take the best qualities and make them our own.

As the Federation is nearing war in 2409, we hearken back to the early days of Vulcan, when Vulcans were more warlike, as well as to the bloody battles of Qo'noS in which it is said that the Klingons killed their own Gods, and to the ancient origins of all humanoid species. As we, one and all, emerged from the primordial ooze to eventually journey among the stars, we use our superior intellect and logic, and a healthy dose of logic-controlled emotion to enhance and enrich our gameplay. We use our prodigious powers of logic to tightly control the strongest emotions - rather than suppress them completely, we now use them to gain advantage in battle. We focus our intellect in discovering the best methods in gameplay to maximize our abilities and quickly and decisively win battles with honor and style.

We are a member-oriented Fleet, who respects Real Life always, and exists wholly for the benefit of our members. Therefore, we truck no drama, and have no hard and fast 'participation' rules - our members are free to enjoy as much of what the VKF has to offer as they wish.

But we do have principles: All VKF members respect each other, and every other gamer in STO - stranger, friend or foe. We do nothing to reduce the enjoyment of STO for other gamers (other than to decisively defeat enemies in PvP battle). We do not camp, kill-steal, grief, engineer aggro, or take any other actions to hurt other gamers in gameplay. This applies to both fellow Fleetmates, and to any other gamer in STO.

We always help out in teams, either our own or pickup groups. We share the spoils of war equitably - both in PUGS and in our own teams. We share equipment and other resources within the Fleet Bank so all our members always have good shields, deflectors, consoles, armor, and weapons. We pool our unneeded energy credits for future needs of the Fleet or any member. The VKF's Fleet uniforms (both a Dress uniform and a Combat Uniform) allow our members to show everyone in STO who they are - our allies and friends welcome us always. We have a Fleet emblem to display on our ships, and we often choose a distinctive 'tattoo' color pattern for our ships, so all may know the VKF when we arrive in-system (our colors are green and gold). And we have a Teamspeak3 server for voicechat, as well as the in-game Fleet channel for textchat.

We are one Fleet of many within STO, and we actively seek alliances with other Fleets to help expand coordinated gameplay for everyone while we all battle gloriously against our enemies and emerge victorious and battle-hardened. We often share our wisdom with our friends in allied Fleets, for the benefit of all - enriched gameplay is our watchphrase.

Please also see our recruitment thread on the STO Forum at http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=90067 and you can certainly /tell any of our members in-game - we like to chat! See a listing below of selected VKF members' in-game character@handle. Our membership is worldwide including USA (with Alaska), Canada, Iceland, UK, Belgium, Spain, Germany, Australia...did I forget anyone? There is almost always a VKF Fleet-mate (or several) in-game and ready to team, we are all on unique game-playing schedules that often overlap - even across multiple timezones!

To our allies and friends, we say Live Long and Prosper. To our enemies and the enemies of our allies, we will beat you decisively in glorious battle, without compromising honor or logic. We strive to hear us referred to as "Qapla'batlh je" (success and honor in Klingon).

Here are just a few of the in-game members you can look for to either gain an invitation to join the VKF in-game, or simply to chat:
    • Our F-rel-barr, or Grand Admiral is Keysailor@Keysailor

Greetings Visitors, and welcome to the Recruiting Center! This area is specifically setup to help you in two tasks. First, we want you to determine if the VKF is the right Fleet for you. Assuming you've read the Home page article, you have a good idea of what our Fleet is about. Inherent in the VKF is comraderie and kinship, a little light Role Playing, and immense enjoyment playing Star Trek Online. Our membership values logic, and we work to help each other in any way possible. This includes sharing good information on all aspects of the game, as well as in-game resources. We have a well-stocked Fleet Bank that can help you get the best equipment for your character's rank, specialty, and your particular skill build. We also pool our unneeded Energy Credits, and can use those to purchase anything we don't already possess (that's obtainable for a reasonable price!), in case your skill build tends towards exotic weaponry or defenses.

Please read through the other articles in this thread to get a good idea of how we are organized and work, and you'll likely find that logic draws you to the VKF.

If it does and you wish to join the VKF, you will need to first create a user account by clicking the "Register" link at the top-right of this window. Once you've confirmed your account (by clicking the link in the confirmation email), you may visit the Recruiting Center forum and post a reply to the thread "New Recruits Apply to the VKF by replying to this post" stating that you wish to join the Fleet. Your initial point of contact is our Fleet Chief Recruiting Officer, although feel free to talk to any Fleet member.

Your post in the Recruiting Center constitutes an application for a commission in the VKF. Your application should include some basic information to help us help you along. We suggest:
    • why you desire to join the VKF
    • what you want to get out of your Fleet membership
    • what you intend to contribute to the VKF (hint - information)
    • any personal details you wish to share with us (please recognize that the Recruiting Center forum threads can be read by any registered user, so save the good stuff for after you are a member-there will be new areas opened up where you can share with just the Fleet)
Once you have posted that information, we'll look you over, and get you into the VKF asap-usually within 24 hours. When we grant your commission in the VKF, your initial rank will be Ne-lan, or Cadet, and you will be an Ang'jmisn, or Starship Commander.

Important! When we grant your commission, we will change your forum username: We will add the prefix [VKF] in front of your username to signify that you are now a Fleet member. You will no longer be able to log in unless you put in the correct username (for example, DoktaD becomes [VKF]DoktaD). Please note that we do not add a space between the prefix and your username. You will know when your application is accepted when you cannot log in without the prefix - we will usually be able to approve applications within 24 hours. Don't worry, we won't change the password you set on your account (we can't even see it), so log in with your new username and old password.

Please recognize that when you log into the forum with your new username, you are formally accepting your commission in the VKF and pledging loyalty to the Fleet. Congratulations!

Next, add more information to your user profile, if you haven't already. In particular, we will need all the in-game character@handle names for characters you would like to use in the Fleet within STO. As soon as any of us sees you are in-game, we'll issue you a Fleet invitation. Once you accept that, you're ready to start working in the VKF.

As a member of the Fleet, you will be able to view a lot more of the content in our Fleet forum, and you will be able to post in more places.

Your first stop after you've accepted your commission by logging in, is to visit the Forum thread "Tips for New Members" to see exactly what you must do in order to earn your first promotion to Ot-lan (Lieutenant).

Please be mindful that visitor accounts to the VKF forum are here temporary. Please take all the time you need to determine if the VKF is right for you, but know that we routinely delete user accounts that have not progressed or been accessed in a week or so. We don't do this to be mean-spirited, but we do want to keep the Forum lean and tight for our Fleet members.

If you've read this far, you should be posting in the Recruitment Center thread soon. I look forward to greeting you to the Vulcan Kolinahr Fleet!

Diplomats from other STO Fleets, Welcome! We hope you will find your visit restful and rejuvenating. If you have not done so already, please use the "Register" link at the top-right of the window to create a user account for yourself. We recommend that you use the same username that you use either in your own Fleet or within STO, and we ask that you create an account with a prefix, so that we can easily tell from which Fleet you hail. A list of our alliance Fleet prefixes is below.

Once registered, please visit our Forum area, specifically the Foreign Relations sub-forum where we have threads for you to communicate with our Kevet-dutar, or Fleet Ambassador. Your first task should be to request diplomatic status, which you do by posting in the sticky thread "Diplomats from Other Fleets - Request Diplomatic Status Here". If you hail from a Fleet with which we've not yet established a relationship, our Kevet-dutar will setup an Embassy sub-forum for your use, otherwise he/she will grant you access to your Embassy sub-forum.

Please note that Embassy sub-forums have restricted access - only to members of your own fleet's diplomatic corps, and to our own diplomats and leaders. No one else can read threads in your Embassy. We consider your Embassy to be sovereign territory of your Fleet, and will endeavor to keep it yours, private, and secure.

From your Embassy, you can negotiate treaties and alliances, discuss matters of mutual interest, or whatever you wish. You can visit as often as you'd like, the Embassy will always be open for diplomats and members of your Fleets' diplomatic corps (and we do check with your Fleet to get your bona-fides).

The VKF is also one of the founding members of the United Council of Fleets (www.trek-online.com) and we work with other Fleets and Cyptic to improve STO for all. We conduct polls and surveys of our membership to provide feedback to Cryptic on the types of game enhancements that we want to see - especially Fleet-related enhancements.

Please know that the VKF answers all Federation hails, will answer all Distress Calls, and will support our allies in glorious battle, whether PvE or PvP. We will also enthusiastically battle our enemies with honor and respect in PvP, and strive to hear us referred to as "Qapla'batlh je" (success and honor in Klingon). To our Allies and Friends, we say Live Long and Prosper! To our enemies and the enemies of our allies and friends, we will Live Long and Subdue!

The year is 2409. You will be entering a hostile time in Federation history. The Course is set. War is the answer for our time! This is taken from "Episode Missions Explained" and I do quote:

"As the story develops, the stakes increase. While Episodes later in the game don't take longer in terms of time or the number of in-game objectives, plot itself accelerates to a dramatic pitch. The threats you'll face are as great as any you've seen in the Star Trek movies. That's not to say early missions are anything to scoff at, however; the early Episodes are designed to be intriguing and dangerous, too.

The Episodes are based on conflict, much like the main storylines in the Star Trek franchise. Conflict drives drama - will your negotiations with the captain of a Klingon Bird of Prey break down and come to blows? How far do you need to go to apprehend a spy on another vessel? 2409 is a time of war, which means even the most resolute captains will need to make tough choices and come to blows to ensure the survival of their faction.

We do, however, want to make the battles you fight believable. You can make diplomatic overtures toward characters in Episodes, but on the front lines it's very rare to avoid confrontation when dramatic forces have guided you into hostile territory with combat-ready antagonists nearby. While there are missions in Star Trek Online that don't feature combat at all, Episodes will by and large demand your abilities as a tactician be put into play."

Even if your by nature a peacful race, you will be engaged in this time period. Their is no neutral ground. You must choose your destiny. VKF is seeking Vulcans who wish to engage their true essence in their blood. To be the best in the sciences, research and War! We need Vulcans who do not fear the edge or the unknown. Logic dictates what action we must chose....VKF choses aggression. Many say we Vulcans are peacful. That we are weak. To much into our logic and beliefs. A change has come. VKF, an all Vulcan Fleet will specialize in Universal Warfare! Total Domination! Complete Annihilation of the Klingons dungy Houses that fester the known Quadrants of Space! Who wish to join VKF on this Epic Journey into a new era of Enlightenment? VKF is organizing the greatest Vulcan Fleet known to VULCAN! Brothers! Will you be part of this? VKF doors are open! At this time, other species may join us! Its up to YOU! Come! My Brothers! Go through this door which is open to you and take hold of your true DESTINY!
